the remote PC is not a server, I am just trying to rdp PC to PC over a VPN tunnel, no host involved, except possibly a domain controller. Is that where Session Collection needs to be changed? As far as I know, we have no session collections defined.

AAA server Authentication is happening through our AD server and that is fine because non working user (ilyas) is able to take remote desktop without connecting VPN but he is facing issue only when he try to connect with VPN.
Cost wise there is an advantage of running a remote support software such as logmein, R-HUB remote support servers etc. over VPN. VPN is good, fast, secure etc. but it is costly as compared to remote support softwares.
